From an early cold April start it has been a pretty busy and successful year on the NARC front.  Highlights have included 16 clean-up events stretching from the North to the South of Pembrokeshire,  more details here We have also been delighted to link in with some fantastic projects along the way – Check out  Bioblitz , Plastic Oceans , Ghostfishing

We are also incredibly pleased to form a partnership with Folly Farm linked in with their new state of the art Penguin enclosure which will help raise awareness of marine litter and NARC to 100,000 s of people. On the awareness raising front we also had fantastic coverage on the BBCs One Show which saw viewing figures in their millions and 100′s of people visit our website.

2013 saw us bag 1344 angling weights, 680 hooks and lures, 23 lost lobster pots and free crabs and entangled soft coral. We also introduced underwater clean-up diving to a number of new volunteers. NARC couldn’t carry out these events without the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our funders. David Jones, secretary and fundraiser for NARC ” Once again we have has tremendous support for the group. Our funders for 2013 have included Environment Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, The Crown Estate and Folly Farm. Without their support and our fantastic volunteers NARC would not have been able to help clean marine litter for the last 8 years. It’s also great to see other initiatives springing up around the world.”
